Batch Thumbnails - Version 1.0

With this little utility you can create thumbnails for every image in a directory. It will process JPG, GIF, PNG and BMP files.

This app will take a .NET 2.0 (or greater) web.config or app.config file and encrypt the connectionStrings section for you.

.NET Framework 2.0 or greater is required.

Flickr Wallpaper Rotator - Version 1.0

Specify tags or a Flickr username which the program will use to download wallpapers to your computer. You can have it rotate the wallpaper at regular intervals, like once a day for example.

Requirements:

Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 installed

Package Contents:

FlickrNet.dll - Flickr API component.
WallpaperFlickr.exe - Executable program which will run in your system tray. If you want this to start every time your computer starts then place a shortcut to it in your Startup folder.
WallpaperFlickrSettings.xml - program settings file.
wallpapers.db - A text file that keeps track of the wallpapers you've downloaded so that an image isn't shown more than once. Open this file in a text editor and delete all of the text if you want to clear out the history.
wallpaper (directory) - This directory will be created the first time a new wallpaper is downloaded. It will store all of the wallpapers downloaded (as JPG's).
_CurrentPaper.bmp - The image currently being used as your wallpaper.

HTML Stripper - Version 1.0

Strips the specified tags out of HTML. The program has an interface for choosing which tags you want to include/exclude. The triangle or "Play" button will use HTML from your clipboard, strip the tags and paste the results back to the clipboard. This is all that the second program (htmlStripperQuick.exe) does, but is more useful because it can be placed in your quicklauch toolbar for easy use. You can still use the main program to edit which tags you want it to strip out.

htmlStripper.exe - Executable program with GUI interface. Include an interface to edit which tags are stripped.
htmlStripperQuick.exe - Executable program which strips tags from HTML placed on your clipboard and then pastes the results back to your clipboard.
HtmlTags.txt - Complete list of HTML tags used by the application. You can edit this manually or use the GUI interface.
RemoveTags.txt - List of HTML tags that will be stripped when each executable runs. You can edit this list from the GUI interface as well or edit it manually.

PageGlimpse .NET Library - Version 1.2

This library makes it very easy for .NET developers to use the PageGlimpse API. The download comes complete with an example you can use to get started. The library can also be used in other types of .NET projects, not just web apps. Read the readme file for more details.

Will work with ASP.NET 2.0 or greater and IIS5 or greater.

SQL Express Automated Backups - Version 1

The problem with SQL Server 2005 Express and 2008 Express is that they do not come with a tool for scheduling database backups.

Use these scripts to backup all of your SQL Server databases to a single directory. It will create one .bak file for every database. The file name will have the date appended to it. Backups older than 14 days will be deleted. Read the readme file inside the download for info on configuring the scripts. You can run the batch file manually or create a scheduled task to have it automatically make backups daily/weekly/whenever.

Works in SQL 2005 & 2008 Express and also in the full versions. I haven't been able to confirm that it works in any version of SQL Server before 2005, if you find that it does let me know and I will update this page.

Windows Wallpaper Rotator - Version 1.0

Specify a Windows directory full of JPG files that you want to rotate as your desktop wallpaper. You can have it rotate the wallpaper at regular intervals, like once a day for example.

Also try the Flickr Wallpaper Rotator - for mixing it up with images from Flickr!

A library that makes using Yahoo!'s BOSS API very easy in .NET.

Details

The ZIP file contains a sample website that shows how this library can be used. To run the sample site yourself you must get a BOSS AppID and change the AppSetting called BOSSKEY to your ID. You can get a BOSS AppID here.

If you want to use this library in your own application you need to:

Copy the Yahoo.API.dll file from the BIN folder to your own project.
Provide your own AppID

The download comes with a website full of examples on how to use it. If you want to integrate it into your project copy the DLL from the bin folder and put it into your project.

NOTE: To run the example website on your computer, you must copy your developer ID from YouTube and replace "YOUR_DEVELOPER_ID" in the the web.config file with your ID.

The component and example site were both written in Visual Studio 2005 using C#. It can also be used with VB.NET sites and Windows applications.
